Common Windows Application Issues
Error 1001 During Installation
- Update Windows via the “Windows Update” tool.
- Update .NET Runtime:
- Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
- Check for Microsoft .NET Framework version 4.8 or later. Download and install it if necessary.
- Temporarily disable antivirus or firewall and retry installation.
App Crashing or Freezing
- Uninstall and reinstall the ApexGuard app.
- Ensure Windows is up to date.
- Check if the Task Scheduler service is running:
- Press Windows + R, type
services.msc, and press Enter. - Locate Task Scheduler, right-click, and select Start if it’s not running.
- Press Windows + R, type
Kill Switch Feature Not Working
- Open Settings in the ApexGuard app.
- Go to the Kill Switch section.
- Under App Kill Switch, click Add apps and select the executable file for the app (e.g.,
C:Program Files (x86)SkypePhoneSkype.exe).
No Internet Access When Connected to VPN
- Switch to a different VPN server.
- Disable other cybersecurity software temporarily to rule out conflicts. If ApexGuard works, add it to your software’s allowlist.
- Perform a network flush:
- Open the ApexGuard app and go to Advanced Settings > Run Diagnostics Tool > Network Flush.
- Restart your device and reconnect.
Application Not Working After an Update
- Temporarily disable antivirus and firewall software. Add exceptions for ApexGuard files if necessary.
- Reinstall the ApexGuard app:
- Uninstall the app.
- Restart your device.
- Download and install the latest version from the ApexGuard website.
Missing ApexGuard Icon
- Delete the broken shortcut.
- Create a new shortcut:
- Right-click on your desktop, select New > Shortcut.
- Browse to
C:Program FilesApexGuardand select the ApexGuard.exefile. - Name the shortcut and click Finish.
- Alternatively, reinstall the app to restore the icon.
