TAP Driver Error When Connecting to a VPN
If you encounter a TAP driver error when trying to connect to ApexGuard, follow these steps:
Check for TAP Driver Errors
- Open the ApexGuard app and go to:
Settings → Advanced → Run Diagnostics Tool → Collect Diagnostics. - Locate the diagnostics folder at:
C:Program FilesApexGuardDiagnostics. - Open the most recent
.zipfile and find theservice-XXXX-XX-XX.nwllog file. - Open the log file in a text editor and look for the following errors:
Error: “All TAP-Windows adapters on this system are currently in use”
- Solution: Restart the TAP adapter:
- Open Control Panel → Network and Sharing Center → Change Adapter Settings.
- Locate the TAP-ApexGuard Windows Adapter v9.
- Right-click it, select Disable, then right-click it again and select Enable.
Error: “There are no TAP-Windows adapters on this system” or “Blocking DNS failed”
- Solution: Reinstall TAP drivers:
- Open Control Panel → Add or Remove Programs.
- Find the ApexGuard network TAP, then uninstall it.
- Download and reinstall the TAP drivers from the ApexGuard website.
