How to Change DNS Servers on Windows

Get started and stay protected

Switching to ApexGuard’s DNS servers can improve your connection. Follow these steps:

Windows 7, 8.1, and 10

  1. Right-click the network icon in the taskbar and select Network and Sharing Center.
  2. Click Change Adapter Options.
  3. Right-click TAP-ApexGuard Windows Adapter V9 and select Properties.
  4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
  5. Choose Use the following DNS server addresses and enter:
    • Preferred DNS server: 103.86.96.100
    • Alternate DNS server: 103.86.99.100
  6. Repeat steps 3–5 for your physical network adapter (Ethernet or Wi-Fi).

Windows 11

  1. Open the magnifying glass icon and search for Manage Network Adapter Settings.
  2. Select TAP-ApexGuard Windows Adapter V9 and click View Additional Properties.
  3. Next to DNS server assignment, click Edit.
  4. In the pop-up window, choose Manual:
    • Turn on IPv4.
    • Enter:
      • Preferred DNS: 103.86.96.100
      • Alternate DNS: 103.86.99.100
    • Turn off IPv6.
    • Click Save.
  5. Repeat steps 2–4 for your physical network adapter (Ethernet or Wi-Fi).
