Using and Customizing the ApexGuard Chrome Extension
Once the extension is installed, here’s how to use its features and adjust its settings.
- Protected Status: Shows whether your connection is secure. Displays “Protected” when you’re connected to an ApexGuard server.
- Smart Connect: Connects instantly to the fastest available server.
- Search: Manually select a server by specifying a country.
- Settings: Open settings from the gear icon. Settings are organized into three sections:
- General: Set your theme and language, toggle Help Improve ApexGuard (shares anonymous performance data), and choose whether to store settings locally in your browser. Under Backup your settings, you can export or import your settings as a JSON file.
- Network & Privacy: Configure Auto-connect, Threat Protection (blocks ads and malicious websites while connected), Kill Switch, Location Spoofing (syncs your browser location and time zone with your VPN), and Auto-reload all tabs. You can also download diagnostic logs to share with support.
- Security and Privacy: Add a domain or IP to control which traffic uses the VPN.
- Support Assistance: Access live chat or find helpful resources.
- Notifications: Stay informed about updates and news related to the extension.
- Recently Connected Countries: Displays your connection history or recommends new servers.
